Book of home building and decoration, prepared in cooperation with and under the direction of the leading manufacturers of the country
A 1912 American home-decorating manual by Henry Collins Brown and Clara Brown Lyman, issued by Doubleday, Page in Garden City with the backing of furniture and furnishings manufacturers, aimed at middle-class householders furnishing new houses. Halftone photographs of rooms sit beside line cuts of single objects: brick fireplaces with andirons, plain slat-back chairs, and printed and stencilled curtains shown flat against their frames, giving usable silhouettes of period furniture and repeating textile patterns.
