American water-colourists
A. E. Gallatin's 1922 survey of American watercolour painting, published in New York by E. P. Dutton for collectors and students of contemporary art. The plates reproduce loosely brushed landscapes: an estuary with moored sailing boats, a sunset over marsh water, wooded valleys in mauve and ochre, and snow-covered fallen trunks, useful for washy textures, muted palettes and horizontal band compositions.
