Siena and her artists

Seymour, Frederick H. A · 1907 · London: T. Fisher Unwin · 16 pictures

A traveller's account of Sienese art and its makers, written by Frederick H. A. Seymour and published by T. Fisher Unwin in London in 1907 for English readers visiting or reading about Tuscany. The sixteen plates are photographic halftones of Gothic and early Renaissance sculpture, altarpieces and carved architecture, heavy in black and often reproducing drapery folds, arabesque panelling, clustered columns and enthroned Madonnas that can be cut out as silhouettes or ornament sources.
