Six Greek sculptors
A survey of Greek sculpture by the British archaeologist Ernest Arthur Gardner, published in London by Duckworth in 1910 for students and general readers following the careers of Myron, Pheidias, Polykleitos, Praxiteles, Skopas and Lysippos. The 77 plates are halftone photographs of marble and bronze statues, heads and reliefs shot against black, giving high-contrast profiles, carved hair and drapery patterns, and weathered stone surfaces usable as cut-out silhouettes or texture.
