A history of English glass-painting, with some remarks upon the Swiss glass miniatures of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries
Maurice and Wilfred Drake's 1912 London survey of English stained glass, written for antiquaries, glaziers and church restorers tracing the craft from medieval windows to sixteenth- and seventeenth-century Swiss panels. Colour plates reproduce leaded panels as flat shapes bounded by heavy black cames: heraldic shields with fleurs-de-lis and lions, reclining crowned kings on inscribed scrolls, and dated sample fragments of canopy tracery.
