On collecting Japanese colour-prints; being an introduction to the study and collection of the colour-prints of Ukiyoye school of Japan. Illustrated by examples from the author's collection
Basil Stewart's 1917 collector's handbook to Japanese Ukiyo-e colour-prints, published in New York by Dodd, Mead for Western amateurs beginning a print collection, illustrated from his own holdings. The plates are monochrome photographic reproductions of woodblock designs — waterfalls, bridges, canal views, travellers under wind and rain — with signature cartouches and publisher seals reproduced alongside keyed captions.
