The art collections of the nation; some recent acquisitions
A 1920 survey from The Studio, compiled by C. Geoffrey Holme with text by William Thomas Whitley, cataloguing works recently acquired by Britain's national museums and galleries for collectors and gallery visitors. The plates are halftone photographs of paintings, portrait heads, carved and inscribed panels, and metalwork such as pewter tankards, printed dark and grainy, so they suit designers wanting high-contrast object silhouettes and murky tonal textures.
