Modern book illustrators and their work
A survey of contemporary book illustration issued by The Studio in London and New York in 1914, edited by C. Geoffrey Holme and Ernest G. Halton with text by Malcolm C. Salaman, aimed at collectors, artists and the trade. The 170 plates gather pen-and-ink and wood-engraved work: costumed figures, medieval interiors, bridges and landscapes, with dense crosshatching, heavy outlines and decorative borders.
