Rugs, oriental and occidental, antique and modern. A handbook for ready reference
A collector's reference handbook on Oriental and Western rugs, written by Rosa Belle Holt and published by A.C. McClurg in Chicago in 1901 for American buyers and dealers learning to identify weaves. The plates are full-page photographs of whole rugs, most in halftone grey and a few in colour, showing medallion fields, repeating boteh and floral lattices, and multi-band borders that can be cropped for pattern tiles, frames and corner ornaments.
