Graves, Algernon · 1907 · London, G. Bell and sons [etc.] · 7 pictures

Algernon Graves compiled this 1907 London reference work for G. Bell and Sons, listing every contributor and exhibited work of the Society of Artists of Great Britain and the Free Society of Artists from 1760 to 1791, for art historians and collectors. The plates reproduce the societies' engraved exhibition-catalogue headpieces and seals: winged genii presenting crowns, seated Britannia among cannon and captured standards, a royal bust on a pedestal, and a crowned lion holding a shield in a foliate oval, with motto ribbons available as ready-made cartouches and vignettes.
