The golden bough : a study in magic and religion
James George Frazer's comparative study of myth, magic and religion, issued by Macmillan in London in 1911 as part of the multi-volume third edition, aimed at scholars and educated general readers. The scanned images are decorative rather than illustrative: a gilt mistletoe pattern stamped across dark cloth binding, and a printed Cornell library bookplate, useful as a repeating botanical wallpaper motif or as period label and typographic lettering.
