The Aerial ship
An English translation of Francesco Lana-Terzi's 1670 proposal for a vacuum-sphere airship, edited by Thomas O'Brien Hubbard and John Henry Ledeboer and issued in 1910 by the Aeronautical Society of Great Britain for aeronautical historians. Plates reproduce the lettered diagram of a masted boat slung beneath evacuated copper globes, an early engraved balloon-boat scene, a stipple portrait of Lana-Terzi, and an eagle flying past a balloon.
