Japanese art
A survey of Japanese art history written by critic and poet Sadakichi Hartmann and published in Boston in 1904 for English-reading collectors and students. The seventeen halftone plates reproduce ukiyo-e figure prints, ink landscape scrolls, brush portrait sketches and relief carvings of musician figures, offering designers high-contrast line and wash motifs, kimono pattern details, cliff and water textures, and drapery scrollwork.
