Chats on Japanese prints
A collector's survey of Japanese woodblock prints written by the American poet and print collector Arthur Davison Ficke and published in London in 1915 for amateur collectors and students of ukiyo-e. The plates are black-and-white halftones of prints by Harunobu, Hokusai and their contemporaries: standing women in patterned and sashed robes, mountain landscapes with bridges and mist, and narrow triptych panels crowded with figures, useful for flowing drapery outlines, flat pattern fills and cropped landscape silhouettes.
