Glen Ridge : the preservation of its natural beauty and its improvement as a place of residence
A 1909 town-planning report by landscape architect John Nolen, printed at Glen Ridge, New Jersey, for the borough's residents and civic committee. Soft-focus halftone photographs show tree-lined dirt roads receding to a bright vanishing point, shingled and stuccoed suburban houses among mature trees, stone walls and curbing, and grassy verges, useful as hazy grey-scale backgrounds, road perspectives and period house references.
