A paper read by soap manufacturer William Hesketh Lever to the Architectural Association in London in 1902 and printed around 1905, describing the model villages he built for workers at Port Sunlight and Thornton Hough. The plates are hand-coloured village plans in which blocks of housing are picked out in solid red against pale green allotment gardens, lettered field names, railway lines and a compass star, useful for map lettering, estate-plan layouts and flat two-colour diagram schemes.
