Pompei past and present; its principal monuments as they are and as they used to be, reproduced and restored from photographs and original sketches
An archaeological picture book by Luigi Fischetti, published in Milan by P. Beccarini in 1905, pairing photographs of Pompeii's excavated monuments with painted reconstructions of the same sites for tourists, students and architects. The plates are tonal halftones of colonnades, street corners, baths and courtyards, some ruined and roofless, others redrawn with intact roofs, painted walls and small figures in togas, giving usable before-and-after views of Roman street architecture.
