A unique and extremely important collection of autograph letters of the world's greatest painters of the XVth, XVIth, XVIIth and XVIIIth centuries.
A 1911 London dealer's catalogue issued by J. Pearson & Co. offering autograph letters of painters from the fifteenth to eighteenth centuries to collectors and institutional buyers. The plates are photographic facsimiles of handwritten letters, receipts and notarial entries, mostly Italian cursive in iron-gall ink, reproduced whole and in enlarged fragments; useful for script textures, flourished signatures and ruled ink lines on aged paper.
