A short history of the art of printing in England
A short trade history of English printing written by Arthur Powell and issued in 1877 by J. M. Powell at the "Printers' Register" office in London, aimed at printers and others in the book trades. The plates are wood-engraved machine portraits and workshop scenes—hand presses, cylinder and perfecting presses, flywheels, gear trains and feed boards—rendered in fine hatching, with one outline-only elevation; useful for mechanical silhouettes, cutaway diagram styles, and period workshop vignettes.
