The story of a printing house : being a short account of the Strahans and Spottiswoodes
A short history of the Strahan and Spottiswoode printing firms, written by Richard Arthur Austen-Leigh and printed in London by Spottiswoode in 1912 for printers, bibliophiles and the trade. The plates are halftone reproductions of oil portraits and studio photographs of the family's printers across the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, dark-ground bust and seated figures useful for period likenesses, soft tonal backgrounds and men's tailoring.
