Latin epigraphy : an introduction to the study of Latin inscriptions
A 1919 Cambridge University Press handbook by classical scholar John Edwin Sandys, teaching students and antiquarians how to read Latin inscriptions. The plates are photographs and engravings of carved stone — altars, grave markers, sarcophagi and the tomb of Scipio Barbatus — showing incised capital lettering, rosette friezes, moulded cornices, relief figures and the cracks and chipping of weathered marble.
