The true story of the American flag
A short historical argument about the origins of the Stars and Stripes, written by Philadelphia lawyer John Henry Fow and published there in 1908 for American antiquarians and patriotic societies. The plates are color reproductions of Revolutionary-era regimental colors and standards, each isolated on white with fringe, tassels and staff: rattlesnakes, mottoed scrolls, heraldic beasts, sunbursts and monogram lettering.
