Monvmental Dalmatia;
A photographic survey of the architecture and sculpture of the Dalmatian coast, with essays by Tomaso Sillani, Adolfo Venturi, Ettore Pais and Pompeo Molmenti, issued in Milan by Alfieri & Lacroix in 1917 for Italian readers following wartime claims on the region. The 128 halftone plates show carved church portals with flanking figures, Roman temple colonnades at Split, apses, baptisteries and lion-borne columns, photographed straight on in strong sunlight with heavy black shadow, useful for stone ornament and architectural silhouettes.
