Seamanship: including names of principal parts of a ship
A British naval seamanship manual by Arctic explorer and Royal Navy officer George Strong Nares, published at Portsmouth by Griffin in 1897 for officers and cadets learning rigging, ship parts and signalling. The plates are colour-printed flag charts — signal pendants, burgees and squares on staffs with hand-lettered meanings, plus royal and service ensigns — usable as flat geometric colour blocks and caption type.
