The improvement of towns and cities; or, The practical basis of civic œsthetics;
Charles Mulford Robinson's 1901 treatise on municipal art and city planning, issued by G. P. Putnam's Sons in New York and London for civic reformers, park commissioners, and municipal officials. The pictures indexed here are the printer's decorations rather than views: bilaterally symmetrical wedge-shaped tailpieces of interlaced strapwork and scrolling foliage in heavy black line, one holding a standing putto among vines and blossoms, usable as chapter ends, dividers, or masthead ornament.
