To which are added an introductory essay on pottery and porcelain, and an engraved list of marks and monograms
Henry G. Bohn's 1862 London catalogue of the Ralph Bernal art collection, listing pottery, porcelain and metalwork sold at auction in 1855, with prices, buyers' names, an essay on ceramics and a plate of factory marks, aimed at collectors and dealers. Hand-coloured wood engravings show single objects isolated on white — ewers, caskets, candlesticks, clocks — with gilt scrollwork, grotesque masks and figural relief panels usable as ornament sources.
