The heavens and their story

Maunder, Annie S. D. (Annie Scot Dill), b. 1868, Maunder, E. Walter (Edward Walter), 1851-1928 · 1910 · London, C.H. Kelly · 10 pictures

A popular astronomy survey written in 1910 by Annie and E. Walter Maunder, both practising observers, and published in London by C.H. Kelly for general readers. Plates pair colour paintings of planetary discs, Jupiter's banded belts and Mars in pale yellows and violets, with halftone eclipse photographs showing white coronal streamers against solid black, useful for circular motifs and high-contrast light-on-dark forms.
