Views of Ripon
A small topographical view book of Ripon and its surroundings, issued by the London steel-engraving firm Rock Brothers & Payne in 1854 for visitors and tourists buying souvenir prints of Yorkshire. The plates are fine-line steel engravings of Fountains Abbey ruins, garden temples reflected in still water, and river banks, several framed by dense oval borders of foliage, offering close hatching textures, vignette masks, and silhouetted tree and tracery shapes.
