Specimen book of the Norwood Press, showing samples of hand and machine type equipment and presswork in black and colors;

Norwood Press · 1916 · Norwood, Mass., Norwood Press · 6 pictures

A printer's specimen book issued by the Norwood Press of Norwood, Massachusetts, in 1916 to show publishers its hand and machine typesetting and its presswork in black and colors. The plates are sample illustrations rather than subject matter: pastel-tinted historical maps of the United States and the medieval Empire dense with place names, and color-process landscape and ruin views with irregular torn-edge borders, useful for map lettering, flat territorial color and halftone framing.
