A descriptive catalogue of playing and other cards in the British museum, accompanied by a concise general history of the subject and remarks on cards of divination and of a politico-historical character
A collector's catalogue of the British Museum's playing cards compiled by William Hughes Willshire and printed for the Trustees in London in 1876, written for curators, card historians and antiquarians. The plates reproduce suit pips and numeral cards — crossed batons, swords, cups and coins in hand-tinted outline, plus round Indian cards — useful for suit symbols, ornamental borders and Roman numeral layouts.
