The flowers and gardens of Japan
Florence Du Cane's account of Japanese gardens and flowering plants, illustrated with watercolours by her sister Ella Du Cane and issued by A. & C. Black in London in 1908 for British gardeners and armchair travellers. The sixty-four colour plates show stone lanterns, pagodas, temple eaves, tiled gates and cherry, plum and iris in bloom, giving designers soft washed colour, massed blossom textures and carved stone silhouettes.
