General impressions of the country merchant
A 1916 trade booklet issued by Orange Judd Company of New York, surveying the American country merchant for advertisers and rural retailers. Halftone photographs show clapboard general stores with awnings and dirt streets, brick storefront rows, plate-glass display windows holding a horse and buggy, and dim store interiors of stacked crates and counters, printed in coarse yellowed dot screens useful for period retail texture.
