Italian gardens
A colour-plate garden book by the English watercolourist George Samuel Elgood, published in London and New York by Longmans, Green in 1907 for garden enthusiasts and travellers. The plates are reproductions of watercolours showing Italian villa gardens: clipped hedges, cypress avenues, balustrades, stone urns and steps, fountains and terraces, with dense foliage in warm greens, ochres and reds, useful for landscape backgrounds, garden architecture motifs and muted period colour palettes.
