A handbook of double stars, with a catalogue of twelve hundred double stars and extensive lists of measures. With additional notes bringing the measures up to 1879
A working reference on double stars by Edward Crossley, published by Macmillan in London in 1879 for observatory astronomers measuring binary orbits with micrometers. The figures are spare line diagrams: orbital arcs labelled with observation years, position-angle crosses marked 0° and 90°, dotted star paths with direction arrows, and a second-scale rule — useful as schematic marks, axes and hand-lettered date labels.
