Seat work and industrial occupations; a practical course for primary grades
A 1905 teacher's manual by Mary Louise Gilman and Elizabeth Baille Williams, published by Macmillan in New York, setting out paper-folding, weaving, sewing and cutting exercises for primary-grade classrooms. The line diagrams show squares, diamonds and borders filled with hatching, plus thread, knots and stitched edges drawn in plain outline, giving designers simple geometric repeats and hand-drawn hatching textures.
