Lenses and systems of lenses, treated after the manner of Gauss
A short mathematical treatise on geometrical optics by Charles Pendlebury, published at Cambridge by Deighton, Bell and Co. in 1884 for university students working through Gauss's treatment of lenses and lens systems. The eight figures are line diagrams: curved refracting surfaces crossed by an axis, ray paths drawn as straight lines with arrowheads, dotted construction lines, marked angles and single-letter point labels, usable as sparse technical linework or as ready-made optical ray schematics.
