The science of aesthetics; or, The nature, kinds, laws, and uses of beauty
A treatise on aesthetic theory by American philosopher and educator Henry Noble Day, published in New Haven in 1872 for students and general readers of moral philosophy. The nine wood-engraved figures are architectural diagrams in hard black line and fine hatching: Ionic capitals and entablatures, Doric cornices with a bucranium, and a ribbed vault of groined arches, usable as clean-edged ornament, rule work, or structural motifs.
