Art in Egypt
A survey of ancient Egyptian art by the French Egyptologist Gaston Maspero, published in English by Scribner's in 1912 for general readers and students in the Ars Una series. Plates combine colour reproductions of painted funerary papyri — jackal-headed Anubis, seated deities, columns of hieroglyphs — with photographs of painted statuary such as the seated scribe's wife, useful for ochre-and-black palettes and profile figure drawing.
