Giorgio Vasari's sixteenth-century biographies of Italian artists, issued in Gaston du C. de Vere's English translation by Macmillan and the Medici Society in London, 1912, for art students and collectors. Halftone plates reproduce Italian frescoes, panel paintings, marble reliefs and tomb monuments, supplying arched tympanum compositions, haloed figure groups, carved foliate borders and inscribed sarcophagus panels.
