Cyclopedia of painters and paintings
A multi-volume reference dictionary of painters and paintings edited by John Denison Champlin and Charles C. Perkins, issued by Scribner's in New York in 1913 for art students, collectors, and librarians. Its pictures are small pen-and-ink head-and-shoulders portraits of artists, copied from paintings in open line with hatched shading, plus monogram signatures useful as spot portraits, vignettes, and marks.
