Dan. Heinsii Nederduytsche poemata ; by een vergadert en uytgegeven door P. S
Dutch-language collected poems of the Leiden humanist Daniel Heinsius, gathered and published by Pieter Schrijver in Amsterdam in 1618, including his love emblems for a vernacular literary readership. The small oblong engravings set a winged Cupid alone in open landscapes — shooting arrows, tending beehives, grafting a sapling, sitting beside a flame — with hatched foliage, distant cottages and blank sky, useful for cut-out figures, tree and shrub motifs, and compact emblem frames.
