Danziger Frauentrachtenbuch

Möller, Anton, 1563?-1611, Bertling, August · 1886 · Danzig, R. Bertling · 22 pictures

A facsimile of Anton Möller's 1601 woodcut series on the dress of Danzig women, reissued in 1886 by R. Bertling in Danzig with notes by August Bertling for costume historians and local antiquarians. The plates pair or group standing figures on small grassy mounds, each drawn in fine contour line with dense parallel hatching that renders pleated cloaks, ruffs, banded skirt hems, wide hats and coiled headdresses, giving designers silhouettes, textile pattern, and ready-cut figure groups.
