Dated book-plates (Ex libris) with a treatise on their origin and development
Walter Hamilton's 1895 survey of dated bookplates, published by A. & C. Black in London for collectors and ex libris antiquaries. The plates reproduce engraved armorial bookplates in line: helmets, mantling, shields with hatched tinctures, motto ribbons, and owners' names and dates in engraver's script, useful for cartouche frames, scrollwork, and heraldic ornament.
