The days of the Directoire
A popular history of French society under the Directory, 1795–1799, written by A. R. Allinson and published by John Lane in London and New York in 1910 for general English readers interested in costume and manners. Plates reproduce late eighteenth-century engravings: oval bust portraits in plumed bicornes and muslin caps, plus narrow strip vignettes of ceremonies and camps, useful for period dress, hat silhouettes and framed medallion layouts.
