Débuts de l'imprimerie en France : l'Imprimerie nationale, l'Hôtel de Rohan
A history of the beginnings of printing in France and of the Imprimerie nationale in its quarters at the Hôtel de Rohan, written by Arthur Christian with a preface by Jules Claretie and printed by the Imprimerie nationale in Paris in 1905 for bibliophiles and students of the press. Plates are printed in single inks—ochre, blue-green, black—and record interior decoration and typographic material: rococo cartouches with figures, arabesque panels framing birds and hung swags, borders, printers' marks and initials, all usable as flat ornament or frame stock.
