A Dutch emblem book of Mennonite devotion by Pieter Huygen, illustrated with copperplate engravings by Jan Luyken and printed at Harlingen in 1689 for Protestant lay readers. The 27 small plates show pilgrims with staff and broad hat on winding roads, walled cities on hills, banked clouds and dense diagonal hatching, offering compact figure-in-landscape vignettes and stylized cloud and terrain textures.
