Degli edificj antichi e moderni di Roma; vedute in contorno

Cipriani, Giovanni Battista, 1766-1839 · 1817 · Roma · 55 pictures

An album of outline etchings of Roman buildings ancient and modern, drawn and engraved by Giovanni Battista Cipriani and published in Rome in 1817 for travellers, architects and drawing students. The plates are pure contour line with no shading: church façades, palace fronts, columns and obelisks set in open squares, with small stick-like figures, carts and horses for scale, giving clean architectural profiles that can be traced, enlarged or filled with flat colour.
