De la démonomanie des sorciers ..
Jean Bodin's treatise on witchcraft and demonic possession, printed in Paris by Jacques du Puys in 1587 for magistrates, lawyers and theologians handling witch trials. The index holds its woodcut initial letters, each capital set in a square block of curling foliage, rosettes and sprouting tendrils — a partial alphabet of drop caps in two sizes for use as ornamental initials or spot motifs.
