An Italian edition of Leonardo da Vinci's treatise on painting, edited from a manuscript copy and issued in Florence in 1792 by the bookseller Giovacchino Pagani for painters, sculptors and academy students. The plates are small engraved line diagrams set into the text columns — rays from a light source, cast-shadow constructions, arcs and perspective cones with letter labels — useful as thin geometric linework, optical schematics and diagram-with-type layouts.
