Della pittura italiana : studii storico critici : le Gallerie Borghese e Doria Pamphili in Roma
Giovanni Morelli's connoisseurship studies of Italian painting in the Borghese and Doria Pamphilj collections, published in Italian by Fratelli Treves in Milan in 1897 for art historians and collectors. The 76 plates are halftone photographs of Renaissance paintings—altarpieces, Madonnas, saints, mythological nudes—printed in soft grey tones, plus line drawings of hands and ears used for attribution, useful as figure sources and as diagrams of anatomical detail.
